Description

PAM drilling fluid viscosifier is a white or pale yellow powder, widely used in water-based drilling fluids as a high molecular weight polymer additive. It is an effective thickener, flocculant, and suspending agent, improving rheological properties and cuttings carrying capacity. Anionic polyacrylamide (APAM) is the most commonly used grade in oilfield drilling operations.

Application

Polyacrylamide PAM is a crucial water-soluble polymer in oil and gas drilling, primarily used as a drilling fluid additive. Its core functions include thickening by increasing viscosity, improving filter cake quality as a filtration loss reducer, enhancing pumping efficiency as a drag reducer, effectively stabilizing the wellbore, and flocculating drill cuttings. PAM is suitable for water-based drilling fluid systems.

Performance

The specific functions of polyacrylamide PAM in natural gas and oil drilling are as follows:

  1. Increasing mud viscosity and rheological regulation: PAM’s high viscosity enhances its ability to carry drill cuttings, ensuring smooth drilling.
  2. Stabilizing the wellbore: Polyacrylamide prevents shale hydration and expansion by encapsulating drill cuttings and formation clay, thus preventing collapse.
  3. Drag reduction and lubrication: PAM significantly reduces frictional resistance of drilling fluid in the pipeline and lubricates the drill bit, reducing equipment wear.
  4. Reducing fluid loss: Polyacrylamide forms a dense filter cake on the wellbore, reducing drilling fluid loss into the formation.
  5. Salt and temperature resistance: PAM ensures stable mud performance in complex formations, meeting the drilling requirements of high-salt and high-temperature environments.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging: Packaging is provided in 25kg three-in-one kraft paper bags or paper-plastic composite bags. Custom packaging is also available upon request.

Storage and Transportation: When storing, take precautions against heat and moisture, and the stacking layer should not exceed 20 layers. The ideal storage temperature is 15℃ to 30℃. Dry powder should be kept 20cm off the ground and 20cm away from walls, and stacked no more than 10 layers high.
