Description

NH4-HPAN drilling mud additive is a yellowish-brown powdery polymer treatment agent obtained by hydrolyzing polyacrylonitrile (acrylic fiber) under high temperature and pressure. Its main chemical components consist of repeating segments containing carboxylic acid groups (-COOH), carboxyamium groups (-COONH4), amide groups (-CONH2), and imine groups (-CN), and its particles are not easily agglomerated.

Application

NH4-HPAN hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile ammonium salt is a mud drilling fluid additive that reduces filtration loss, decreases viscosity and adjusts rheology, inhibits collapse, resists temperature, salt and calcium, improves rheology, reduces friction, and reduces the risk of stuck pipe. It is also the main filtration loss reducer in polysulfonate systems.

Performance

The specific functions of hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile ammonium salt (NH4-HPAN) in natural gas and oil drilling are as follows:

  1. Reduced filtration loss and wall protection: NH4-HPAN forms a dense filter cake in drilling fluid, significantly reducing filtration loss and minimizing water infiltration into the formation. Due to its embedding effect on the shale surface, NH4-HPAN inhibits shale expansion and dispersion. In high-salt formations, its use effectively prevents wellbore collapse and protects wellbore stability.
  2. Excellent salt resistance: NH4-HPAN contains various functional groups, exhibiting excellent salt resistance. It maintains stable performance in high-salt environments and does not lose its effectiveness with increasing salt content.
  3. Improved drilling fluid rheological properties: It effectively increases drilling fluid viscosity in both freshwater and brine systems, providing good shear-dilution characteristics, which is beneficial for carrying drill cuttings and cooling the drill bit.
  4. Improved drilling efficiency: When drilling through mudstone and shale sections, the coating effect of NH4-HPAN reduces drill cuttings dispersion and prevents mud formation, thereby reducing drilling costs and increasing speed.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging: Packaging is provided in 25kg three-in-one kraft paper bags or paper-plastic composite bags. Custom packaging is also available upon request.

Storage and Transportation: When storing, take precautions against heat and moisture, and the stacking layer should not exceed 20 layers. The ideal storage temperature is 15℃ to 30℃. Dry powder should be kept 20cm off the ground and 20cm away from walls, and stacked no more than 10 layers high.
