Description

Polyanionic cellulose (PAC) is a high-quality, water-soluble anionic cellulose ether, obtained from natural cellulose through chemical modification. This product is odorless, non-toxic, and tasteless, and is a white or slightly yellow powder.

Application

PAC has high purity, high substitution degree and excellent resistance to salt, calcium and high temperature, and is widely used in drilling fluids for thickening, suspension and filtration reduction.

Performance

The specific roles of PAC polyanionic cellulose in gas and oil drilling are as follows:

  1. Significantly reduces fluid loss and protects the well: Drilling fluids containing PAC exhibit good stability and can form a dense, thin, and resilient filter cake in the drilling mud. This effectively controls free water ingress into the formation, preventing shale expansion and collapse, thereby improving wellbore stability.
  2. Rheological adjustment and viscosity enhancement: Drilling fluids containing PAC have good rheological properties, which can increase the viscosity and thixotropy of the drilling fluid, enhance the suspension capacity of the drilling mud, prevent cuttings settling, and thus increase drilling speed.
  3. Salt, calcium, and high-temperature resistance: Drilling fluids containing PAC have strong suspension capacity, strong resistance to various soluble salt contaminations, and are rarely affected by mold, making them particularly suitable for complex geological conditions.
  4. High and low viscosity applications: PAC-HV focuses on enhancing the wall protection and sand-carrying capacity of the mud by increasing viscosity; while PAC-LV focuses on improving the rheological properties and reducing filtration loss of the mud, controlling filtration loss while maintaining low viscosity.
  5. Low dosage, High efficiency: Compared to CMC, PAC requires less dosage for the same effect (typically 30%-60%), making it an environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and efficient treatment agent.
