FT-1 Sulfonated Asphalt is a modified asphalt product made by introducing sulfonic acid groups into petroleum asphalt through a special process. While retaining the inherent lubrication and anti-collapse properties of natural asphalt, it significantly improves the product’s solubility and temperature resistance.
Application
Sulfonated asphalt powder FT-1 is a multifunctional organic drilling mud fluid treatment agent used in natural gas and oil drilling. Its core functions are to prevent collapse, plugging, lubrication, and reduce filtration loss under high temperature and high pressure (HTHP) conditions. FT-1 stabilizes the wellbore by forming an adsorption film at the shale interface to prevent hydration dispersion and filling pore throat fractures. Sulfonated asphalt is particularly suitable for high-temperature deep wells, improving drilling efficiency and reducing downhole stuck pipe failures.
Performance
The specific functions of sulfonated asphalt powder in natural gas and oil drilling include:
- Anti-collapse effect (shale inhibition): Sulfonated asphalt contains sulfonic acid groups, which have strong hydration properties. It can be adsorbed at the shale interface, effectively preventing the hydration dispersion and expansion of shale particles, thus preventing collapse.
- Leakage plugging and sealing: The water-insoluble portion of FT-1 can fill the pores and fractures in the formation, strengthening the wellbore.
- Lubrication and drag reduction: Sulphonated bitumen has good lubrication properties, reducing the lifting capacity and torque of the drill string, preventing stuck pipe.
- Reduced filtration loss: FT-1 sulfonated asphalt powder can significantly reduce the high-temperature and high-pressure filtration loss of drilling fluid, protecting the oil and gas reservoir.

Packaging & Shipping
Packaging: Packaging is provided in 25kg three-in-one kraft paper bags or paper-plastic composite bags. Custom packaging is also available upon request.
Storage and Transportation: When storing, take precautions against heat and moisture, and the stacking layer should not exceed 20 layers. The ideal storage temperature is 15℃ to 30℃.
